Harry Page
President
Harry Page is an accomplished senior executive with over 25 years experience in the telecommunications and microelectronics industries. He has extensive international experience in both start-up and established organisations. Throughout his career assignments he had demonstrated a proven ability in strategy development, creating delivery mechanisms, anticipating organisational needs, managing change and driving performance improvement.
Harry is currently President of Semiconductor Insights, a division of TechInsights Inc.
Prior to joining Semiconductor Insights, Harry held the position of Vice President of Network Services for Meriton Networks Inc. In this role he is responsible for the global service and support functions to meet the mission-critical needs of network service providers and the networking operations of large enterprise customers. Prior to that Harry was Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Symagery Microsystems (now part of Psion Teklogix Inc.) In this capacity he was responsible for all aspects of Product Management, Development and Support, as well as the Manufacturing Operations of the Company.
Harry's leadership skills led him to roles as Vice President of Customer Service and Support at Newbridge Networks Corp. Assistant Vice President, Quality Management, Mitel Semiconductor (now Zarlink) and Head of Quality Management, Marketing and Technology at Mitel Corporation, as well as process engineering and quality positions in the semiconductor and hybrid microcircuit groups of Mitel Semiconductor, Bell Northern Research and Microsystems International.
Harry was educated at the Algonquin College School of Business (Ottawa, ON) and University of Manitoba (Winnipeg, MB). He also holds several patents in the area of mobile computing image capture and processing.
Emil Alexov
Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Emil Alexov was appointed to his current position in November 2003. Mr. Alexov brings twenty years of international semiconductor sales and marketing experience to his current position, with such companies as Philips, Siemens (Infineon) and Mosaid Technologies. In his previous role as VP Worldwide Sales for Mosaid, Mr. Alexov gained extensive experience building sales channels in the Far East, including Japan, China and Korea, as well as Europe and North America. Previously, Mr. Alexov also held positions of increasing responsibility at Future Electronics Ltd.
Mr. Alexov is a graduate of McMaster University where he received his Bachelor of Engineering, as well as the University of Toronto, where he received his Bachelor of Science.
Bill Farmilo
Vice President, Engineering
Bill Farmilo, Vice President of Engineering, was promoted to his current position in July 2005. Mr. Farmilo, after joining the company in 1997 from Caloritech Inc., has held several progressively senior positions with SI including Patent Analysis Engineer, Account Manager, and Group Manager Design Analysis, and Director of Engineering prior to his current appointment. During his tenure with SI, Mr. Farmilo has developed expertise on many devices including digital cameras, CMOS memories, programmable logic devices and cellular telephones. As a result of this work, Mr. Farmilo has filed one patent application.
Mr. Farmilo received his B.Sc.E. with First Class Honors in Engineering Physics (Electrical) from Queens University in 1996. Mr. Farmilo is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario. As well, Mr. Farmilo is a member of the Board of Governors of the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC).
Randall Freeborn
Vice President, Human Resources and Organizational Development
Randall Freeborn, Vice President Human Resources and Organizational Development of Semiconductor Insights, was promoted to his current position in December 1998, after holding a series of progressively senior positions since joining the company in 1996. Mr. Freeborn brings 24 years of human resources experience to his current role including senior posts with Watson Wyatt Worldwide, Mitel Corporation and CIL Inc.
Mr. Freeborn holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Concordia University as well as a Diploma in Laboratory Technology from Fanshawe College. He is a member of several human resource committees within the high technology sector and is frequently an invited guest speaker for various seminars and media events.
Edward Keyes
Vice President, Chief Technology Officer
Edward Keyes is Semiconductor Insights’ CTO, leading the company’s research and development efforts. Since joining the company in 1991, Mr. Keyes has held a series of progressively senior technical and management positions, including Manager of Process Analysis, Director of Intellectual Property Services. Vice President Operations, and Vice President TECHinsights.
Mr. Keyes graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics and subsequently completed a Master of Electrical Engineering in 1987 at Carleton University. Prior to Semiconductor Insights, Mr. Keyes worked as a senior process engineer with Optotek Ltd. and was also a member of the research staff at Carleton University. Mr. Keyes possesses a very strong knowledge of semiconductor technology and intellectual property.
Mike McLean
Vice President, Professional Services
Mike McLean, Vice President of IPinsights at Semiconductor Insights, was promoted to his current role in July 2005 after holding a series of progressively senior positions. Mr. McLean’s technical and management posts have included Director of Intellectual Property, Patent Engineer, IP Account Manager, and IP Operations Manager since joining the company in 1996. Mr. McLean led the creation of the Patent Development Business Unit within Semiconductor Insights. As well, Mr. McLean has worked extensively with the technology practices of major law firms, the in-house corporate counsel teams of key technology companies, and external licensing agencies.
Mr. McLean holds a Bachelor of Science, Engineering with First Class Honors from Queens University and is a licensed member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario. In recognition of his strong technical and business acumen, Mr. McLean has served as an expert witness in several intellectual property suits on behalf of Semiconductor Insights’ clients.
Sam Sgabellone
Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Sgabellone leads the company’s Finance and Administration team and is SI’s Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Sgabellone joined the company in 1997, bringing over 25 years of experience to SI including senior finance posts with Canadian Astronautics Limited (now EMS), Infographic Systems Inc., SHL Systemhouse (now EDS), and Clarkson Gordon (Ernst & Young).
Mr. Sgabellone graduated from Carleton University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and obtained his chartered accountancy designation in 1981.
Paul Miller
President, CEO, TechInsights
Paul Miller is CEO of TechInsights, a wholly owned business of United Business Media. He is responsible for its conferences and events, websites and print publications, and has spearheaded the global expansion of the business into market and competitive intelligence and professional consulting services with innovative acquisitions including How Machines Work Corporation and Semiconductor Insights. In addition, Paul is a board member of the eMedia Asia JV (a Global Sources and CMP Technology joint venture producing EE Times print and online and events in China, Korea, Taiwan and ASEAN) and a board member of Design & Reuse, an IP Catalog information company headquartered in Grenoble, France.
Paul has held many positions in the Electronics media and information area since joining the company as European sales manager for Electronic World News in London 17 years ago. In 1993, Paul moved to New York as regional sales manager for EE Times. After becoming Eastern regional sales manager, national sales manager and associate publisher of EE Times, Paul was managing director of the online network. Paul returned to EE Times as publisher in October 1999 moving onto VP and SVP roles responsible for running the Electronics and Software Groups. Most recently, Paul was Group President overseeing 5 divisions until his recent appointment to CEO of the TechInsights business.
Paul graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in England with a B.A. (Hons) Degree in Communication Studies and is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (ACIM). In 1991 he graduated Croydon College in London with a Diploma in Marketing (DipM) from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
