Motorola RAZR v3 Awarded Best Handset TechnologyFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SAN FRANCISCO, California, September 27, 2005 Semiconductor Insights (SI), the leader in technical and patent analyses of integrated circuits and electronic systems, today announced that it has awarded Motorola's RAZR v3 the 2005 INSIGHT Award for Best Handset Technology. "The RAZR is a great combination of advanced technology and sleek design. At this week's CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment conference, many devices are being highlighted that expand user desirability in the mobile market, and the RAZR is definitely in this category", said Edward Keyes, Vice President and CTO for SI. "The half-inch thick form factor, long talk time and high definition screen make it a real standout. It has really piqued customer's interests and will help Motorola gain market share in the coming quarters." SI's Handset Design Win (HDW) subscription service analyzes a representation of the handset market each year down to the component level, including the RAZR v3 in the Q3 2005 edition. The Motorola RAZR v3 has 7 major ICs containing a total of 17 separate die. Although this die count is above average, the total amount of silicon area is significantly smaller than competing designs, indicting the use of advanced technology and efficient integration.
